FCAQI Museum at Caboolture
The Feather Clubs Association of Queensland Inc has an Avicultural and Poultry Museum, the only one of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, located at the Caboolture Historical Village.
Display cabinets
The Museum was officially opened by the then Queensland Minister for Primary Industries, Hon. Henry Palaszczuk, on Saturday 28th June, 2003.
There are a number of dioramas, painted by artist Andrew Morris, within the Museum each focussing on different aspects of bird and poultry keeping: the arrival of the First Fleet; a poultry show; the role of zoos in preserving bird species; pigeons in warfare; and foreign species of birds that now call Australia home.
FCAQI Museum displays
A large variety of artefacts, taxidermied birds, books, cards and ribbons, trophies, newspaper clippings, incubators and a whole range of other bird related tools, articles and equipment are on display at the Museum.
Rear display at FCAQI Museum
On display is a framed article, donated by the Southern Tasmanian Poultry Club, relating to the first ornithological show in Australia which was held in Tasmania in 1854. Brisbane Poultry Club had their first Poultry Show on Thursday 4th July, 1861.
